Project day on a poster on astronomy
Pupils from the Estonian school gathered information about different topics concerning space and space technology. The younger pupils made posters of planets and celestial bodies. The 5th – 9th graders made posters or presentations about different space scientists, astronauts and observatories. In high school, the topics of presentations were more complex, such as life at a space station, supernovae and black holes. The pupils arranged an exhibition and a conference for each other. After that, we made quizzes for the pupils to make sure they had understood the new topics.
Pupils developed their 21st century skills. The pupils learned how to find and assess information online, how to make presentations using different programmes such as PowerPoint, Google Slides and Prezi. By organizing the exhibition and conference, pupils developed their organizational, performing and presentations skills. Since the pupils made the presentations in groups, they improved their social and team work skills as well.
